Lane closures in store for La Grange Road water main replacement

LA GRANGE PARK – The installation of a 10-inch water main under the west side of La Grange Road will cause daily southbound lane closures through much of the summer between Woodlawn and Brewster avenues.

Northbound lanes will close occasionally, but none of the closures in either direction will occur during the evening rush period, said Brendan McLaughlin, La Grange Park's Public Works director.

The project is funded by a roughly $500,000 grant from the Army Corps of Engineers and will replace an existing main that is smaller and tends to break.

"When it breaks, it's out in the middle of La Grange Road," McLaughlin said.

The project is scheduled to start the middle of next week and last 8-10 weeks.
