LA GRANGE – Fifty of the Chicago area’s top professional organizers are donating their time to help two local children save their sight.

Mirielle and Patrick St. Arnaud of La Grange were born with severely impaired vision as a result of Leber’s Congenital Amaurosis (LCA), one form of Retinal Degenerative Disease that affects more than 10 million people in the U.S.

Organize 4 Eyes gives homeowners the chance to have their homes organized by professionals while funding research of the diseases. For $1,000, 25 homeowners will receive seven hours of home organization by two professional organizers (totaling 14 hours), along with services including paper shredding, junk hauling and assistance with selling items on eBay. Participants will be entered into a raffle for interior design services, computer services and more.

The 50 organizers will donate 100 percent of their fees to the Foundation for Retinal Research, which will use the funds for research of the NPHP5 gene, the gene that affects Mirielle and Patrick. The foundation already has restored vision in people with two forms of LCA through gene and retinoid therapy.

Organizing services will occur during June, July and August. To register, visit Call Patty Wolf with questions at 708-828-6652.

Organize 4 Eyes is also looking for an additional $25,000 in matching funds from corporations, charities and individuals. Donations can be made on the program’s website.
