Public hearing set for Memorial Park renovations
LA GRANGE PARK – Plans for renovations to Memorial Park will be open for discussion and review at a public hearing Thursday.
The Community Park District of La Grange Park will present its plan and give residents a chance to review and comment at the hearing, set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday in room 101 of the Recreation Center, 1501 Barnsdale Road.
Plans to improve the aging park date back to 2011, but have since been revised. Potential renovations include a new picnic shelter with indoor plumbing and bathrooms to replace an existing building that does not meet accessibility requirements and is about to fall in, said Park District Executive Director Roy Cripe. Other planned additions include a bocce ball court, bean-bag toss boards, small outdoor fitness area and new playground elements. The park district also wants to improve a spot at the top of the hill at the southwest corner of the park for festivals.
