ELMHURST – A man is out on bond after Elmhurst police arrested him for allegedly trying to have his business associate in Florida killed.

Michael L. Pilney, 38, of 7221 N. Keating Ave., Lincolnwood, reportedly paid an undercover officer a kilogram of cocaine in exchange for a murder contract, according to a statement sent Tuesday by Elmhurst Police Chief Michael Ruth.

Pilney was arrested and charged with solicitation to commit murder and delivery of a controlled substance May 23 near Route 83 and St. Charles Road. He was taken to DuPage County Jail, where his bond was set at $80,000.

Pilney was released May 28. He will next appear in court June 24.

The incident remains an open investigation, Ruth said.
