Wheaton middle schooler shines at Special Olympics
WHEATON – For Franklin Middle School sixth grader Violet Holman, her first trip without her parents was an even bigger life event than it is for most kids.
The trip took Violet to Atlanta, Ga. to participate in the Special Olympics as a gymnast. The 13-year-old brought home five ribbons, including one for third place in the all-around competition.
"I love doing gymnastics and watching it," Violet said. "I love Gabby Douglas and the Fab Five, and gymnastics gives me a lot of strength and endurance and keeps me strong and healthy."
