LAGRANGE PARK - For a moment, it looked like Glenbard South's run as defending Class 3A state champions was coming to an end.

But the Raiders had some magic left.

Hannah Taylor's two-out base hit up the middle drove in the winning run and capped off a two-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning, giving Glenbard South a 6-5 win over Lemont in the Nazareth Class 3A sectional final.

With the win, the Raiders advance to Monday's Nazareth supersectional against Fenwick.

Lemont had broken a 4-4 tie in the top of the seventh with a two out RBI-single by Rachel Hall.

But in their final at-bat, the home team got a leadoff walk by Aimee Gerhardt and an RBI-double by Jane Trzaska before Taylor ended the game two batters later.

The Indians jumped out to a 4-1 lead through two innings, highlighted by RBI-singles from Hall and Rylie Jay and an RBI-double by Carly Jaworski.

But Glenbard South plated a pair of runs in the fourth and then knotted up the score on a sacrifice fly by Danielle Scarpiniti in the fifth.

Steph Chitkowski was the winning pitcher after coming on in relief in the second. Jaworski tossed a complete-game for Lemont.
