PEORIA – Alex Ventrella drove in the tying run and then scored the eventual game-winner as Lisle's baseball team earned a spot in Saturday's Class 2A state championship game.

The Lions (22-10-1) scored both of their runs in the third inning to overcome Teutopolis' first-inning run. That was all the production needed as Lisle won, 2-1, at Dozer Park.

Ventrella finished 2-for-3 while Kevin Copin produced the other RBI. Ryan Van Volkenburg went the distance, scattering eight hits, walking three and striking out four.

Lisle will face either Eureka or Pleasant Plaines at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Their semifinal game will resume at 9 a.m. Saturday after inclement weather forced it to be suspended in the fifth inning.
