HILLSIDE – Tio Hardiman, the director of CeaseFire Illinois, a prominent anti-violence group known for mediating gang conflicts in Chicago, was arrested Friday at his home on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge, the Chicago Tribune reported.

At 8 a.m., Hardiman's wife arrived at the Hillside police station with "signs of injury" and filed a formal complaint, Police Chief Joseph Lukaszek said.

Hardiman, 50, was arrested an hour later. He has a bond hearing Saturday.
