Summer fun on tap at Fountaindale Library
Summer always is a fun time of the year at the library. There is no shortage of events and programs available for our community.
We are going to kick off the summer with a performance by the Emerald City Theatre Company tonight at 7 p.m. Join us for a performance of “Alice in Wonderland” at the Bolingbrook Performing Arts Center, 375 W. Briarcliff Road. The Friends of Fountaindale Public Library generously have sponsored this event in full.
Our annual summer reading program began Tuesday and concludes Aug. 3. This year’s theme is “Have Book – Will Travel.” The theme is incorporated into our summer programs and events, so make sure to check the calendar for a full listing of all the adventures happening at the library.
The summer reading program is for kids, teens and adults. Check out exciting new books, and earn prizes just for reading. Registration week is this week through Thursday in Meeting Room A. Stop by, sign up and start reading. If you can’t make it into the library this week, don’t worry; you still can sign up.
Some of our summer reading sponsors include Nancy’s Pizza, Lou Malnati’s, Dupage County Hounds, Andy’s Frozen Custard, bd’s Mongolian Grill, LongHorn Steakhouse, the Bolingbrook Park District, Taco Bell, Yumz Frozen Yogurt and Classic Cinemas. Visit our website for information about registration and our sponsors.
We also are excited to host a Bookmobile Round-Up for the first time at our library.
Library bookmobiles from Illinois and Wisconsin will visit Fountaindale on Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. in the parking lot.
Area bookmobiles will be on display from Aurora, Skokie, Arlington Heights, Kenosha, Wis., Glenwood-Lynwood, Markham and other libraries. No registration is needed for the event. Just show up and take tours of all the bookmobiles.
Lastly, make sure to save the date for our ice cream social
Guests can cool off with a free ice cream treats and celebrate the completion of our summer reading program with activities, games and music for the family.
The event is from 5 to 8 p.m. in the library parking lot and Bulldog Park. We had more than 1,200 attendees last year, and we look forward to another great event for the community.
