VILLA PARK – A homeless man was charged with burglary after allegedly taking money and a computer from two Villa Park businesses overnight Tuesday.

Amr Ahmad Daoud, 21, was charged with two counts of burglary after being taken into custody at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said. He later was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Early Wednesday, Villa Park police responded to a burglary incident at the Anona Center, 125 S. Villa Ave., where cash and collectible coins were reported missing. A second burglary was reported at 8 to 8 Cigars, 300 E. St. Charles Road, where cash and an IBM computer were missing.

Police reviewed surveillance videos from both businesses and saw a man wearing a yellow shirt and blue jeans who later was identified as Daoud.

Daoud was located near St. Charles Road and Wisconsin Avenue in Villa Park and taken into custody.

He previously had been cited Saturday for unlawful consumption of an alcohol beverage and unlawful possession of an alcoholic beverage at the Villa Park Public Library.
