BROOKFIELD – A new village trustee for Brookfield was sworn into office last week to fill a vacancy.
During their regular meeting May 28, members of the Brookfield Village Board approved the appointment of Michelle Ryan to serve the remainder of Kit Ketchmark’s term. He left his position as a trustee last month after being elected village president April 9.
“I still had two years to go on my term,” Ketchmark said. “So Michelle Ryan was appointed to fill out the rest of my term. ... From an economic development point of view, she will be a great addition to the board.”
Ryan is a certified planner, with a master’s degree in urban and regional planning, Ketchmark said. She has served as a member of the Brookfield Beautification Committee and has been active in other village activities, he said.
The Village Board also renewed its employment contract with Riccardo Ginex, who has served as Brookfield’s village manager since 2005. Ketchmark said the contract is effective until a new village president takes office.
There was no pay increase for Ginex in the contract, Ketchmark said. Ginex received a 2.5 percent raise in October, hiking his salary to $141,996. This increase was in line with those of other nonunion village employees, Ketchmark said.
