43 citations issued in Addison roadside safety check

ADDISON – Forty-three citations were issued during a recent safety checkpoint by Addison police in conjunction with the Illinois State Police.

The checkpoint took place overnight May 24 at 32 W. Lake St. According to a news release, the purpose of the checkpoint was to educate the public on the dangers of driving while impaired. Almost 600 drivers pulled up to the checkpoint, and only 275 drivers were directed into the checkpoint.

The citations included: seven for driving without a valid driver's license; 15 for driving without insurance; four each for driving with a suspended license and revoked license; four equipment violations; three open alcohol violations; three for driving without seat belts; one moving violation; one misdemeanor arrest and four child restraint violations.

There were no impaired drivers on the road near the checkpoint.
