Be sure to make the Villa Park Public Library a destination for you and your family this summer. You will find we have something for everyone.

Attend one of our many programs, take advantage of our Museum Adventure Pass program and sign up for one of our reading clubs. This year’s reading club theme is “Have Book – Will Travel,” and you will find you won’t have to venture far to have a good time.

Our summer programs start in June with regular programming including monthly chess clubs, matinees and story times. In June, our Youth Services Department will feature events, such as a music safari (today), a juggling show (June 13) and an introduction to geocaching (June 20). Our July special events for kids will include a magic program (July 12), dinosaur discovery (July 18) and a world music tour (July 30).

This is just a sampling of the programs available at the library this summer. Be sure to check the library’s website calendar, vppl.info, for a list of our programs and registration details.

If you want to venture out of town, be sure to stop into the library and check into the Museum Adventure Pass program. You can use your library card to receive admission or a discount for 17 participating Chicago-area cultural destinations. Destinations include venues such as Brookfield Zoo, Cantigny Park and the Illinois Railway Museum.

Visit museumadventure.org for information on the program and the museums that participate. Contact the library to see when passes are available.

Finally, your summer itinerary would not be complete if you and your children don’t sign up for one of our “Have Book – Will Travel” reading clubs. There is a reading club for every age level. Participants just need to read to earn rewards.

Summer reading clubs are fun ways to encourage reading, and along the way, you will find that books can take you anywhere. In addition, reading during the summer months and encouraging your child to spend time with books leads to reading success.

Sign-up for our reading clubs began May 28. Escape the mundane by visiting the library this summer.
