LA GRANGE – The three-tiered fountain outside Village Hall is back and will be flowing soon almost a year after it was removed after being tipped over and cracked by a teenage boy.
The village received the new fountain from a contractor several weeks ago, but it had a cracked piece and had to be sent back. Now, the fountain is in place, and the village is in the process of connecting all pumps and mechanical parts, in addition to painting the inside of the water basin.
"The fountain serves as the center piece for a very popular destination point for people visiting downtown," Public Works Director Ryan Gillingham said. "We are just as anxious [as everyone] to get it back [running]."
Replacing the fountain, which was insured, did not cost the village, Gillingham said. The fountain was damaged in July 2012.
