Teen honored at soroptimist reception

GLEN ELLYN – At the 24th Annual Soroptimist Awards on May 18, Glenbard West High School junior Loni Cohen received the Violet Richardson Award certificate, along with a check.

This award honors a 14 to 17-year-old woman who strives to make the world a better place through volunteer efforts that demonstrate leadership abilities and benefit other women and girls. 

Cohen is the programming vice president of the Chicago Area Region of the North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY). NFTY is a national youth-led movement uniting jewish teens from 19 different regions throughout the nation. Among her many accomplishments with NFTY, Cohen has developed programs to help teens gain self-confidence and find their voice.
