Partners for Parks Foundation enhances the Lisle community
Are you looking for an easy way to support the Lisle Park District Community?
By dedicating a brick at Sea Lion Aquatic Park, running in the annual Scarecrow Scramble 5K, recycling your holiday lights, volunteering at the Eyes to the Skies Festival on behalf of Partners for Parks, or purchasing Jewel gift cards, you could help bring services and support to the community.
A 501 (C)(3) corporation, the Partners for Parks Foundation sets aside $3,000 annually that is used for financial scholarships for families who otherwise could not participate in recreation programs such as camps or swim lessons.
Founded in 1999, the mission of the Partners for Parks Foundation is to secure corporate and private financial contributions and in-kind donations to foster the enhancement, participation and promotion of parks and recreation within the Lisle community.
Since its inception, the foundation has provided financial scholarship assistance for recreation programs through the Lisle Park District, donated the playground for Gentle Learning Preschool, helped fund the purchase of an 18-passenger van for teen trips, and set aside funds to bring a kayak launch to Lisle Community Park.
Recently, the foundation pledged $10,000 toward the development of a Sensory Garden and Playground being planned for Danada South Park in Wheaton that will include fully accessible playground equipment, a sensory garden, tree house, athletic field and other unique amenities.
Since the passing of founding board member, Larry Smith, the Partners for Parks Foundation is looking for an energetic, civic-minded individual to sit on the Board of Directors of the foundation, for a three-year term. The Board of Directors manages the property, affairs and business of the corporation.
Meetings are the first Monday of each month at noon at the Lisle Park District Recreation Center. Interested persons should submit a letter of interest to: Lisa Leone, Board Secretary, c/o Lisle Park District, 1925 Ohio Street, Lisle, IL 60532 or email at email@example.com.
Should you have any questions or want to volunteer for the Partners for Parks Foundation, call Lisa Leone at 630-353-4304 or visit www.LislePartnersForParks.org.
