DOWNERS GROVE – Firefighters from Downers Grove and three other departments extinguished a fire Thursday in a home's attic in the 3700 block of Sterling Road.

The 911 call came in at 5:09 p.m. Thursday, and the fire was out by 5:32 p.m., according to Downers Grove Fire Department Spokesperson Marsha Giesler.

When firefighters arrived there was heavy smoke and the residents were already outside.
