DOWNERS GROVE – Firefighters from Downers Grove and three other departments extinguished a fire Thursday in a home's attic in the 3700 block of Sterling Road.

The 911 call came in at 5:09 p.m. Thursday, and the fire was out by 5:32 p.m., according to Downers Grove Fire Department Spokesperson Marsha Giesler.

When firefighters arrived there was heavy smoke and the residents were already outside.

They were able to suppress the flames quickly, she said.

No injuries were reported. Due to damage, the family could not move back in Thursday.

Investigators were on the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
