DOWNERS GROVE – For 40 years, the West Suburban Humane Society has been a no-kill haven in the southwest suburbs of Illinois for homeless dogs and cats from around the country, giving new life to thousands of pets and their adoptive families.

To celebrate this milestone of being "furry, forty, and fabulous," Doggie Depot, 635 Rogers St., Downers Grove, will host a family-friendly 40th anniversary fundraiser from 4 to 8 p.m. June 22 to benefit the West Suburban Humane Society.

Fundraiser tickets are $40 per person and $10 for children 12 and under.

Dinner and drinks will be provided by Pine Cone Cottage Tea House and Catering of Downers Grove.

There will be face painting, balloon animals and more kid-friendly entertainment for the children provided by Klein Time Entertainment, plus live music from Project 7X.

There will be both a live and silent auction as well as a raffle. The fundraising goal is $40,000 – one thousand dollars for every year of saving animal's lives.
