BROOKFIELD – The Chicago Zoological Society was happy as a proud papa to announce that three of their bottlenose dolphins are pregnant and expected to give birth this summer and fall.

The mothers-to-be – Allie, 26; Tapeko, 31; and Spree, 10 – are doing well and are receiving prenatal care much the same way a human mother would, including ultrasound examinations and blood tests.

Allie and Tapeko are experienced mothers, already having given birth to two and three successful calves, respectively. This will be Spree's first pregnancy.
