Richard Huse of Darien displays his $100,000 winning 50X The Cash instant ticket.

DARIEN – A Darien resident was recently at work when he scratched a 50X The Cash ticket and instantly won $100,000.

Lottery winner Richard Huse immediately visited the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Des Plaines last month to present his winning ticket.

Huse said he won the Lottery the day before he was leaving for a vacation in Mexico. He said he rushed to turn in the ticket because he didn't want to leave his winning ticket in his house while away, according to a news release.

The winning ticket was purchased at Darien Pantry, 737 Plainfield Road in Darien, where Huse is a regular customer.

The retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket.
