STARS program to host tenth annual 5k benefit
WHEATON – The tenth annual Run For The STARS 5K is set to run once again this year on Saturday, June 8, according to a press release by the program.
All proceeds for the race and the associated raffles go to the STARS program, a ministry based out of the College Church in Wheaton that provides full and partial scholarships for recreational camps and retreats as well as programs throughout the year for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The program's wesbite says that it currently serves over 100 families in the western suburbs.
On race day, members of the STARS community and all children age 8 and under will be able to take part in the Dash for the STARS, a short race at 8:45 a.m. that guarantees a shirt and die cast medal for participants. The main race begins at 8 a.m., and hopeful participants can register at http://www.runforthestars.com/dash_for_the_stars.htm.
