LOMBARD – As a special treat from Mother Nature, the lilacs were in full bloom in Lilacia Park for much of Sunday's Lilac Parade, compared to last year, when the park blossomed in March.

The Mueller family marched in the parade in honor of late Village President Bill Mueller, who was designated as the honorary Lilac Parade marshal, along with elected officials, community groups and the Lilac Court.

Other events during the three-week celebration included a plant sale, the Lilac Ball, coronation of the Lilac Queen and a sculpture show. Although festivities are over, lilacs and tulips remain in bloom at Lilacia Park, open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
