ELMHURST - Scoring 30 seconds into the second overtime, Wheaton Warrenville South held on for a 1-0 victory over York in a Class 3A regional championship Friday.

Scoreless through regulation and the first overtime session, the Tigers scored on a bit of a fluke goal. Caroline Holmes crossed a pass into the box and it bounced off a York defender and into the back of the net.

Wheaton Warrenville South, which won its first regional title since 2010, will take on either Lyons Township or Glenbard East in a sectional semifinal Tuesday.

Abbey Fuster recorded six saves, including a pair of dazzling ones off free kicks, to record the shutout in goal.
