Police: Garbage truck strikes power lines, closes Cass Ave. Friday

WESTMONT – A downed power line closed Cass Avenue in Westmont Friday for more than three hours.

Around 1:30 p.m., the boom arm of a flatbed waste management truck struck the line along Cass Avenue near Linden and Lincoln avenues, closing the streets and damaging a car nearby.

The village initially sent out a Nixle alert about the road closings around 1:40 p.m. Friday.
