GLEN ELLYN – A Maywood man was charged with criminal trespass to residence after he allegedly entered two unlocked apartments in the 0-100 block of Parkside Avenue in Glen Ellyn, according to Glen Ellyn police reports.

Anthony L. Hicks, 44, of 1421 S. 19th Ave., Maywood, was charged with criminal trespass to residence, unlawful use of weapon, aggravated assault, possession of drug equipment and possession of a controlled substance at 6:14 a.m. May 3, according to reports.

Hicks allegedly entered both apartments to recover money owed to him by the residents, Deputy Police Chief Bill Holmer said. He reportedly knew the two victims as acquaintances, Holmer said.

Each victim was renting one of the apartments Hicks allegedly entered, but they lived together in one apartment while the other sat vacant, Holmer said.

Upon entering the apartment where the victims lived, Hicks allegedly threatened them with a bat and screwdriver, he said.

Two other people were with Hicks during the alleged incident, but neither were charged, Holmer said.

Drugs may have been involved in the incident, and a controlled substance was sent to the lab for analysis, he said.

After charging Hicks, Glen Ellyn police transported him to the DuPage County Jail, Holmer said. With this incident, Hicks violated parole for a previous charge from a different police department, he said.

Prior to the May 3 incident, the Glen Ellyn Police Department had made no contact with Hicks, Holmer said.
