Berwyn

The best excuses in town

Berwyn has the privilege of hosting many exciting events throughout the year. For the Berwyn Development Corporation (BDC), taking an active role in creating annual special events and sponsoring a bevy of others is a must. The BDC’s special event commissions currently host eight events, and I encourage you to visit our locally-focused www.whyberwyn.com to learn more about these outing opportunities as well as other events around our city.

Next up for the summer, the Depot District Special Events Committee will be bringing us three events. Berwyn Cruise Nites will begin on June 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the intersection of Windsor and Grove avenues. Other dates include June 18, July 2 and 16 and August 6 and 20. Cruise Nites brings a hopping car show to the variety of nightlife spots that abound in the Depot District. You can show your prized vehicle at no charge or just come to unwind.

The Clean Sweep Garage Sale will take place on June 8 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Municipal Park Facility, 3320 S. Grove Ave. This event is a chance to finish off your spring cleaning with a communitywide garage sale and electronic recycling event.

There are many more events coming up this summer and fall, but more on that later.

Our events are a chance to encounter our city in a new way, and we definitely expect your experiences to be out of the ordinary. I’m confident that we can offer you some of the best excuses in town to break your routine. Bring your neighbors and friends. Visit a new place. Make the most of this great city. It’s good for business. It’s good for the community. It’s good for the soul.

Jon Fey is the president of the Berwyn
Development Corporation Board
