St. Francis freshman gymnast named Junior Olympian

WHEATON – Shea Mahoney of St. Francis High School in Wheaton was named to the U.S. Junior Olympic team this week, according to a St. Francis press release.

Last weekend Mahoney competed at the 2013 Junior Olympic National Championships in minneapolis, MInn. and found herself with a pair of medals: a bronze in the all-around competition and a gold medal for the floor exercise. The release said that the freshman was tapped to represent the U.S.because of her all-around placement.
