Gurdak concedes in Villa Park trustee election

VILLA PARK – The results of a discovery recount this week at the request of trustee candidate Tony Gurdak proved consistent with the results of the April 9 election. Although the vote tallies were close between Gurdak and candidate John Davis, Davis slipped ahead with more votes and will be sworn in as village trustee later this month.

Gurdak said he feels the results from the municipal election and from the discovery recount are valid and that he does not plan to pursue the issue further.

During the review, he was able to select eight precincts to be reviewed at the DuPage County Election Commission's warehouse in Aurora. The process took about 4.5 hours on Tuesday, and the results from each precinct were consistent with the findings on election night.

Gurdak lost to Davis by three votes in the April 9 consolidated election.

Davis, a veteran of the Villa Park Board of Trustees, will be sworn in for another term at a later date.
