Glenbard East freshman Graham runs 5th-fastest state-qualifying time
Rams qualify three individuals to state
ELMHURST – Three Glenbard East athletes qualified for the state meet from the Class 3A York girls track and field sectional May 10.
Lindsay Graham ran in a loaded field of the 3,200-meter run to qualify. She was fourth with a personal-best time of 10:41.92. Despite only taking fourth in the sectional, the freshman heads to state with the fifth-fastest qualifying time.
Senior Jamie Gradishar was third in the pole vault and cleared a state qualifying height of 10 feet, 6 inches. Gradishar is a returning state qualifier.
Sophomore Angela Kerndl earned her first trip to state with a second-place finish in the 100-meter high hurdles. Kerndl ran a time of 15.91 seconds in the finals.
Rams boys 7th at DVC
Jake Hurlburt was Glenbard East's top finisher at the DuPage Valley Conference meet at West Aurora on Friday. Hurlburt threw 149 feet, 3 inches to take second.
Jack Peters and the 4x400-meter relay also earned all-conference honors. Peters was third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.2. The 4x400 relay was second at 3:26.55.
The 4x800 was fourth and the 4x200 was fifth to give East five top-five finishes at the meet.
East was seventh at the meet with 30 points.
Sophomore Ben Sullivan won Glenbard East's only title at either level by winning shot put at the frosh/soph division. He threw 47-9, which would have placed him seventh at the varsity level.
