La Grange

Annual La Grange carnival benefits local businesses

When the thrill rides, games, food and music of the Ahhh! La Grange Carnival take center stage May 31 to June 2, the kids aren’t the only ones who benefit. This traditional event on Pet Parade weekend helps benefit local businesses, too.

The annual three-day carnival is organized by the La Grange Business Association (LGBA) to mark the unofficial beginning of summer, and is one of the main sources of funding for this civic group. We are a volunteer organization of small businesses that work to keep the local economy humming.

Proceeds from the carnival help to sustain other free public events in La Grange that are organized by the LGBA such as the Summer Art Exhibit, the La Grange Craft Fair, West End Art Festival, the Halloween Walk and Fall Festival and Hometown Holiday. These events are what help give La Grange its unique character and small-town vibe.

These public events also bring new customers and stimulate revenue for the restaurants, boutiques, shops and service businesses in La Grange. They also help to fund marketing programs and promotional efforts that drive sales for local businesses.

On Harris Avenue between La Grange Road and Ashland Avenue, this year’s outdoor carnival will offer live entertainment and a beer garden and food area with fare from La Grange restaurants, in addition to traditional carnival treats.

Carnival hours are from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday.

From noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, the carnival will offer unlimited ride specials, charging $20 per person per session.
