LOMBARD – The baseball postseason is right around the corner and that’s a good thing for Glenbard East.
The Rams could use a fresh start after being swept by West Aurora to close the DuPage Valley Conference with a 7-14 record.
East lost the series finale 3-2 on Wednesday after dropping the first two games on the road by scores of 5-1 and 9-4.
Nick Vichio took a hard luck loss on Wednesday. Vichio didn’t allow any earned runs in a complete game with seven strikeouts and just four hits.
The unearned runs have been a theme after the Rams gave up seven unearned runs in Game 2.
“The last three games we’ve given up a lot of unearned runs, made a few errors in the field and weren’t able to push across enough runs to overcome that,” said East coach Joel Pelland. “Today, same story.”
Vichio and Danny Ryan had two hits each for the Rams (11-22 overall) in the loss.
