Two women charged following alleged retail store burglary spree in Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE – Downers Grove police charged two women who allegedly burglarized several retail stores in Willowbrook, Elmhurst and Downers Grove last week.

Following a tip from Bloomingdale Police, police stopped a vehicle driven by Lisa Abdullah, 41, at 5:49 p.m. May 8 after allegedly observing her and Christina M. Godinez, 22, exiting a business in the 1500 block of Butterfield Road with purses that appeared to be stuffed with items.

During the stop, officers allegedly found more than $3,000 in merchandise from several stores in the car, including dog collars, children's clothing, pet supplies, candles, and sandals, among other items.

The pair are believed to have stolen from Buy Buy Baby, Bed, Bath and Beyond and Petsmart, in Downers Grove; Petco and Shoe Carnival in Elmhurst; Sports Authority and Bed, Bath and Beyond in Willowbrook.

Abdullah, 3722 Sumac Drive, Joliet, was charged with burglary, constructed windshield and driving while license suspended, police said.

Godinez, 5843 S. Kilbourn Ave., Chicago, was charged with burglary, according to polce.
