La Grange Park to honor veterans with memorial
LA GRANGE PARK – A veterans’ memorial is coming to Memorial Park.
The Community Park District of La Grange Park will kick off a fundraising effort July 4 for an curved, 7-foot memorial wall at the northeast corner of the park, near Sherwood and Oak streets. The brick wall will feature text honoring veterans and carved representations of the medallions given by each of the five branches of the U.S. military.
“The concept is to honor all past, present and future veterans,” said Roy Cripe, the park district’s executive director. “Its not a war memorial; its a veterans’ memorial. It will [also] give us the opportunity to highlight [veterans] who have lived or are living in La Grange Park.”
