Villa Park swears in Bullwinkel, Village Board
VILLA PARK – New leaders in the Village of Villa Park were sworn in on Monday night.
Deborah Bullwinkel, who previously served one term as trustee for the village, took the oath of office as village president. She is a 17-year Villa Park resident and brought in about 75 percent of the votes during the April 9 election.
"There are a lot of familiar faces and a lot of new faces," Bullwinkel said during the inauguration. "I'm not only looking forward to working with the new board, but also to working with you."
Bullwinkel was elected to the position following an eight-year run by former Village President Tom Cullerton, who was elected to the state Senate in November and chose not to run for re-election in Villa Park.
"Everybody here tonight is so involved and cares so much," Cullerton said in his final comments to the board on Monday. "Please continue to do that."
Robert Wagner, who previously served two years as trustee in the mid-1990s, was sworn in for his first full term on the Village Board. Bob Taglia also was seated as a returning trustee.
"I'd like to thank the residents of Villa Park for giving me another four years to serve," Taglia said.
Wagner is a 30-year Villa Park resident who has previously served with several community groups. He was trustee with the Villa Park Public Library for 15 years and also a board member for the DuPage Library System.
Village Clerk Hosanna Korynecky also took the oath of office Monday for another term.
