ELMHURST – The FBI and Elmhurst police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred Monday at US Bank on York Road.

According to a statement from Elmhurst Police Chief Michael Ruth, two men entered the bank, 536 S. York Road, and announced a robbery at 4:50 p.m. Monday. The alleged robbers implied they had a weapon, but did not show one.

One of the tellers was pushed, and both of the men jumped over the counter. The pair took an undetermined amount of money before fleeing on foot, Ruth said.

Elmhurst police searched the area with K-9 unit assistance, but did not find the suspects. The two men may have gotten into a waiting get-away car, Ruth said.

The FBI has original jurisdiction for the case, and Elmhurst police detectives are assisting and cooperating with the bureau.

To report information about the robbery, call the Elmhurst Police Department at 630-530-3050.
