BOLINGBROOK – A group of about 70 people will convene at the Fountaindale Public Library Sunday, May 26, gathering in solidarity to pay respect to Tamil civilians that died in Sri Lanka in May 2009.

Beginning at 2 p.m., the group will meet at the library, discussing the repercussions of the 25-year Sri Lankan Civil War and subsequent Sri Lankan Army attacks on Mullivaaykkaal and the Tamil citizens three years ago.

Following the two-hour discussion, participants will visit Mullivaaykkaal Memorial Tree at the Bolingbrook Recreation and Aquatics Complex (BRAC) to pay respect to those that lost their lives in 2009.

With the help and consent of the Bolingbrook Park District, the group planted a burr oak tree at the BRAC in 2011, honoring the event with a plaque that reads, "In memory of those who lost their lives in Mullivaaykkaal, Sri Lanka in May 2009."
