York music program wins GRAMMY grant

ELMHURST – The GRAMMY Foundation will officially honor York Community High School as a 2013 Grammy Gold Signature School during the York Symphony Orchestra concert on Thursday.

Under the leadership of Performing and Visual Arts Division Chairman Bill Riddle, York received a $5,500 grant as one of the top three schools designated as gold finalists nationwide to benefit the school's music program.

The concert, directed by Ray Ostwald, assisted by Elmhurst student teacher Daniel Czyzewicz, begins at 7:30 p.m. in the York Community High School Auditorium, 355 W. Saint Charles Road, Elmhurst. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for seniors and students, and free for York students, District 205 staff, seniors with Very Important Patron privileges, children under 6 and Patron Pass holders.
