Students from Elmhurst, Lombard and Villa Park tour the Suburban Life newsroom in Downers Grove and are interviewed by reporter Mari Grigaliunas on Monday, May 13.

A group of local home-schooled students visited the Suburban Life Media newsroom on Monday to get an inside look at how the news is made.

During the visit, students met a reporter, photographer and editors. They have been learning about newspapers in a group class that they are taking on literature. They had many questions about how the newspaper is put together, and they're working on writing their own news articles for class.

"I like writing," said Sean Doyle, 14, of Villa Park.

Also touring the newsroom were: Maryellen Dziak, 12, of Villa Park; Annie Doyle, 12, of Villa Park; Alexandra Ciesla, 13, of Villa Park; Michael Sullivan, 12, of Elmhurst; Jack Sullivan, 14, of Elmhurst; Andrew Deardurff, 13, of Elmhurst; Daniel Reitzel, 13, of Villa Park; and David Severance, 13, of Lombard.
