VILLA PARK – A Joliet man remains in jail on $500,000 bond after being charged with sexually abusing a Villa Park teenager.

Joshua Scheun, 36, of 4363 Timber Ridge Court, was charged with six counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, two counts of traveling to meet a minor and one count of solicitation to meet a child following an investigation by the Villa Park Police Department and the DuPage County Children's Center.

According to a news release, Scheun allegedly met his victim, a 13-year-old Villa Park girl, on a social networking site March 18. He then traveled to the community on March 22 to meet with the girl face-to-face. It is alleged that while the two were in Scheun's van, he sexually abused the girl, and sexually abused her several more times during the following days, prosecutors said.

Authorities became aware of the alleged abuse when the victim told a school counselor about her relationship with Scheun. The victim's parents were notified, along with the Villa Park Police Department and the DuPage County Children's Center.

Scheun will next appear in court June 17. If he is able to post bond, he will have to comply to conditions of home confinement and would be prohibited from using a computer or any device with Internet access.
