LISLE – A new record was set at the fifth annual Lisle Shred Event April 13.

More than 388 vehicles came through Community Park to drop off documents for free on-site destruction. The total weight of paper shredded reached nearly 7 tons, surpassing last year’s totals of 5 tons and 225 participants.

The Lisle Park District offers free, secure, on-site paper shredding each April on a Saturday near Tax Day.

The annual shred event allows Lisle Park District residents to drive-up and drop off documents while an on-site industrial shredder destroys the documents into high-security confetti-size pieces at no charge.

The Shred Event for 2014 is scheduled for Aril 26.
