HINSDALE — Jacob White had a plan.
Having faced Max Larsen earlier in the game and hit into a fielder's choice, White laced a double to the right field gap that scored Jared Eck to give Hinsdale Central's baseball team a 3-2 win over visiting Lyons Township Tuesday.
White didn't waste much time in his second at-bat against Larsen, taking the first pitch to the opposite field.
"When I saw him before he was throwing me outside," White said. "I decided to go for it if it was a strike, otherwise I was going to have a patient at-bat. It was a juicy one down the middle and I went the other way with it."
White's heroics came one day after LT struck in the bottom of the seventh inning to deal Hinsdale Central a 5-4 loss. The Red Devils (12-10) earned payback Tuesday and made a winner of Christian Bokich. The victory snapped Central's six-game losing streak.
Eck was running in place of Max Peters, who hit a one-out single to left and set the stage for White.
Central grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third on two singles and three walks, one an intentional walk to Chris Botsoe to load the bases with one out. Matt Muellner walked to bring in Matt Silk (single), and Alec Hutcherson's single plated Peters (walk).
Two walks, a single and an error helped LT level the score in the top of the fourth. Stewart Nelson led off with a single, stole second and took third on a passed ball. After Keith Lehmann's drew a one-out walk, Sam Heilenbach reached on an error that scored Nelson. Lehmann scored on Tom Prescott's sacrifice fly.
