WESTERN SPRINGS – The 4 x 200-meter relay and Emma Fisher earned first-place finishes for York at the West Suburban Silver meet to highlight the Dukes’ showing.

York placed fourth with 92 points at the meet, which was May 3 at Lyons Township.

Fisher won the 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:38.54. Fisher’s typical rival in distance races, Glenbard West’s Madeline Perez, didn’t run in the 3,200. Perez is expected to do so at the sectional meet Friday at York. A fresher Perez won the 1,600 and beat Fisher by more than 11 seconds.

York’s 4 x 200 relay team of Shante Dansby, Cassandra Hoeksema, Josie Jelinek and Amanda McGowan took first with a time of 1:48.08. Dansby and Jelinek are sophomores, McGowan is a junior and Hoeksma is the lone senior on the relay. Dansby also was fourth in the 200.

Samantha Harrell scored two second-place finishes in each of the throws. Harrell finished behind Lyons Township’s Makayla Hubbard in the discus and shot put.

Junior Julie Biegler tallied 15 points toward the team total by scoring in all three jumps. Biegler was third in the high jump and fourth in the long jump and triple jump.

Maddie Fabry also was second in the 800.
