IC Catholic

Class: 2A

Regional seed: No. 3

Regional: IC Catholic

Regional opener: 7 p.m. Wednesday vs. Lisle

What to watch: The Knights will serve as host of the Class 2A regional, but the games will be played at Bensenville’s Redmond Park, with games scheduled for under the lights.

IC will open in the second game of a semifinal doubleheader Wednesday against No. 2 regional seed Lisle in a rematch of last year’s Class 2A regional final that the Knights won. Lisle ace Alex Ventrella has a 0.69 ERA and could be a tough task for the Knights in the opener.

If the Knights can pull the minor upset, they likely will see top-seeded Westmont, which is leading the Interstate Eight, in the regional final.

Timothy Christian

Class: 2A

Regional seed: No. 4

Regional: IC Catholic

Regional opener: 4:30 p.m. Monday vs. Northridge Prep

What to watch: The Trojans will open by hosting Northridge Prep, the No. 5 seed in the five-team regional, in the regional quarterfinal.

If Timothy gets past that game, they will face top-seed and Interstate Eight-leader Westmont in a semifinal at Redmond Park in Bensenville.

The Trojans have struggled to find consistency this season but had a few bright spots offensively. Seniors Brandon Scott and Emerson Bademer have combined for eight home runs. Junior George Thompson joins the senior duo with batting averages of more than .300.

Talented freshman Cole Miller has also stepped right into the squad and entered Wednesday with a .317 batting average.
