VILLA PARK – As the community prepares to celebrate the beginning of summer with the Memorial Day holiday, the Villa Park Police Department will be running a Click It or Ticket campaign to encourage drivers and passengers to wear their seat belts.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Safety Administration, 93.6 percent of people in Illinois are regular seat belt users, but there are still thousands of people who do not wear seat belts.

From Friday through May 27, Villa Park police will participate in the event with the Illinois Department of Transportation and more than 500 local, county and state law enforcement agencies to enforce local seat belt laws.

For more information about Click It or Ticket, call the Villa Park Police Department at 630-834-7447.
