DOWNERS GROVE – Shoppers in Downers Grove will have a new grocery option beginning Friday.

A new Shop and Save Market will have its ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday at 7241 Lemont Road in the Downers Park Plaza. It opens for business at 10:30 a.m. that day.

The new Downers Grove store will be the business' sixth location. Spokesperson Dale Ohman said Shop and Save aims for a "fresh market" approach.

The 45,000-square-foot grocery will offer shoppers items ranging from a European-style deli, bakery items, a full-service meat counter and a produce section with more than 550 items, according to a press release. The store will also have an in-store food court that will serve lunch and dinner.

The shop's “fresh to go” counter will feature a variety of homemade Mediterranean items like cured olives, hummus, tabbule, baba ganoush, as well as sandwiches, salads, Greek yogurt and fruit cups. The soup counter will offer more than 25 soup choices.
