Police to guard Lemont schools overnight in response to bomb threat
LEMONT – Lemont police will remain at Oakwood and River Valley schools overnight in response to a threat written on an exterior wall at Oakwood indicating the school will be bombed Tuesday.
“We take all of the threats very seriously,” said Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A Superintendent Susan Birkenmaier.
Parents were notified about the threat Sunday evening. Approximately 20 percent of Oakwood and River Valley students did not attend school Monday, according to a letter sent to parents from the district Monday evening.
