LOMBARD – The late Village President Bill Mueller was announced as grand marshal of the Lilac Festival Parade during last week's Board of Trustees meeting.

"Bill was a lifelong servant who embraced his role of village president," said Eric Fisette, chairman of the Lilac Festival Parade committee. "The parade committee understands the Lilac Parade was one of Mr. Mueller's favorite Lilac Time events and we couldn't think of any better way to celebrate him and his accomplishments."

Mueller's wife, Eileen Mueller, and one of his two daughters, Debbie Rapata, were present in the audience and accepted a gift of appreciation from the parade committee. Members of the Mueller family will ride in the parade to honor the late village president.

"It's a wonderful honor that you have chosen Bill to be the honorary parade marshal," Eileen Mueller said. "I'm just thrilled by it and you all know how much he loved the parade. I think it was his next love after Lombard."

Lombard's Lilac Time festivities began last weekend and will culminate with the parade on May 19.
