Berwyn man arrested on child porn charges

BERWYN – A Berwyn man has been charged with multiple counts of possession and dissemination of child pornography after investigators recovered nearly 1,000 pictures and videos depicting children engaging in sex acts on computer hard drives in his home, according to the Office of Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez.

Antonio Sanchez, 39, of the 2100 block of South Euclid Ave, was charged with dissemination of child pornography, a Class X felony, and multiple felony counts of child pornography. 

According to prosecutors, a search warrant was executed at Sanchez’s residence following an investigation by the Cook County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in cooperation with the Berwyn Police Department.  During the search, officers recovered several hard drives from Sanchez’s residence. A forensic review of these hard drives revealed pictures and videos depicting children engaging in a variety of sex acts.

Sanchez was arrested by the Berwyn Police Department May 2 and appeared in bond court at the Maywood Courthouse before Judge Ann Collins who set bond at $10,000. 

Sanchez’s next court date is May 8.

State’s Attorney Alvarez thanked the members of the Cook County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Berwyn Police Department for their work on the case.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office administers the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which investigates and prosecutes criminal acts such as child pornography, sexual solicitation of a child or missing child investigations.  The task force also offers guidance and information for parents and educators on internet safety.
