WESTERN SPRINGS – Lyons Township’s girls track and field team defended its West Suburban Silver outdoor title Saturday at home.

The Lions totaled 134.75 points to claim the title over Glenbard West’s 122.75 points. LT racked up five first-place finishes.

Sophomore Emma Haugen won the high jump and the triple jump and was runner-up in the long jump and the 100-meter hurdles. Haugen is well-positioned to qualify for state in multiple events for the second year in a row.

Senior Makayla Hubbard was the other two-time winner on the day. Hubbard won the shot put and discus to remain unbeaten in the shot put this year and defend last year’s outdoor conference title in the event.

The 4 x 100-meter relay of Olivia Cabanban, Jessica Fuller, Sarah Kreikemeier and Luci Lussier won the race to claim LT’s only relay win of the day. Cabanban, Fuller, Lussier and Caitlin Phelan teamed up to take second in the 4 x 200.

Erin Szczepaniak finished behind Haugen in the triple jump to take second in the event.

Third-place finishers were Grace Flynn (pole vault), Laura Krivicich (discus), Kreikemeier (400-meter dash), Amy Bazzoni (300-meter hurdles) and the 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relays.
